The First Tee is an international youth development organization whose mission is to impact the lives of young people and their families by providing educational programs for youth that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.
The First Tee of Northeast Wisconsin envisions expansion of it’s youth development emphasis throughout Northeast Wisconsin territory by focusing on bringing quality programs to golf courses in our region.
Since its inception in 1997, The First Tee has:
- Reached over 9 million participants.
- Actively engaged 17,000 volunteers.
- Introduced 6,000 elementary schools to The First Tee National School Program, which delivers a structured golf curriculum that promotes character development in a physical education setting.
Who We Reach:
With one in five students dropping out of public high schools, the need for quality youth programs is critical. The First Tee golf program can be part of the solution to challenges facing today’s youth.
The First Tee reaches young people ages 5-18 through golf instruction and life skills lessons administered at chapters, military installations, and to students in elementary schools.
What we do:
The First Tee programs provide life skills education and expose young people to core values.
Our character education helps young people prepare for success in high school, college and life.
How we help:
The First Tee provides quality youth golf programs that include adult mentors and safe places for young people.
Results Beyond Junior Golf Performance:
Through independent research, 73% of young people at our chapters report high confidence in their ability to do well academically and 82% feel confident in their social skills with peers.

The Nine Core Values

By participating in The First Tee, young people are introduced to these core values which are incorporated throughout the program. Parents are encouraged to reinforce these behaviors by talking about them, what they mean and what these behaviors can look like at home.
